Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jacob Markstrom
Jacob Markström was born on January 31, 1990 in Gävle, Sweden. A highly-touted goaltending prospect in his homeland, Markström was selected in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Markström made his North American debut in the American Hockey League for the Rochester Americans during the 2010-11 season. He got his first taste of NHL action on January 23, 2011 when he came on in replacement of Scott Clemmensen. In doing so he became the youngest goaltender in Florida Panthers history. It would be the only game Markström would play in the NHL in 2010-11.

Markström played four seasons splitting time between the Panthers and their AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. He was then traded, along with Shawn Matthias to the Vancouver Canucks for Roberto Luongo and Steven Anthony.

On the international stage Markström represented his native Sweden five times, which is highlighted by a Bronze Medal at the 2010 IIHF World Championships and a Gold Medal performance at the 2013 IIHF World Championships.
