Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jared Spurgeon
Jared Spurgeon was born on November 29, 1989 in Edmonton, Alberta. A product of the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, Spurgeon was selected in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.

Unable to reach a contract with the Islanders, Spurgeon became an unrestricted free agent and signed with the Minnesota Wild on September 23, 2010 and assigned to the club's AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros.

After just 23 games in the American Hockey League, Spurgeon was recalled by the Wild and made his NHL debut for the club on his 21st birthday. The defender would go on to appear in 53 games for the Wild during his first professional season, providing stable play along the back end.

Spurgeon would set new career-highs in goals and points during the 2015-16 season. In 77 games for the Wild he found the back of the net 11 times and added 18 assists or 29 points.
