Scott Glennie was born on February 22, 1991 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A junior star for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, Glennie was selected in the first round, eighth overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars.

Glennie would make his professional debut in the American Hockey League for the Texas Stars on the last stages of the 2010-11 season. He would see action in four regular season games and six playoff games for the club, recording one goal for the club.

On April 7, 2012, the last day of the NHL regular season, Glennie got his first taste of NHL action as the Stars fell to the St. Louis Blues by a score of 3-2.
