Nick Leddy was born on March 20, 1991 in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Drafted by the Minnesota Wild, Leddy would spend one season at University of Minnesota before being traded along with Kim Johnsson to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Cam Barker.
Leddy would join the Blackhawks for the 2010-11 season, appearing in 46 games for the club as well as 22 games for their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
In 2011-12, Leddy would join the Blackhawks on a full-time basis. He appeared in all 82 games for the club and began to emerge as the offensive force that was touted to be and his 34 assists ranked him among the top 20 in the NHL.
Leddy and the Blackhawks would dominate the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, rolling through the NHL's regular season and capturing the Presidents' Trophy.
The playoffs were more of the same and though pushed to the limit by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round, the Blackhawks would prevail and eventually earn the fifth Stanley Cup title in franchise history, the first in Leddy's career.
At the beginning of the 2014-15 season, the Blackhawks traded Leddy to the New York Islanders for Ville Pokka, T. J. Brennan, and Anders Nilsson. After joining the Islanders, he signed a seven year contract with the club on February 24, 2015.
During the 2015-16 season, Leddy would establish new career-highs with 35 assists and 40 points.
On the international stage, Leddy represented the United States at the 2011 World Junior Championship, winning the Bronze Medal.
