Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Tim Erixon
Tim Erixon was born on February 24, 1991 in Port Chester, New York while father, Jan, was a member of the New York Rangers. The Erixon family returned to Sweden upon his Jan's retirement from the NHL where Tim took up the game at the age of five.

A standout junior in Sweden, Erixon was selected by the Calgary Flames 23rd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Unable to come to terms on a contract, the Flames traded Erixon's rights to the New York Rangers prior to the 2011 Entry Draft in exchange for a pair of second round picks.

Erixon made his NHL debut on October 7, 2011 against the Los Angeles Kings in a game played in his native Sweden. He would see action in 18 regular season games for the Rangers during the 2011-12 season, while splitting time with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL.

On July 23, 2011, Erixon was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets along with Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, a first round choice in the 2013 Entry Draft and future considerations for Rick Nash and Steven Delisle,
