Kyle Clifford was born on January 13, 1991 in Ayr, Ontario. The gritty winger played three seasons for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League and was selected 35th overall by the Los Angeles Kings at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Clifford made his professional debut in the American Hockey League with the Manchester Monarchs in 2010 a joined the Kings to start the 2010-11 season. In his first year with the Kings, Clifford would appear in 76 games and record 14 points while adding 141 penalty minutes.

In 2011-12 Clifford was part of the Los Angeles Kings club that stormed through the Western Conference playoffs and defeated the New Jersey Devils to capture the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

During the 2013-14 season, the Kings once again made it to the Stanley Cup Final where they would defeat the New York Rangers in five games. The win gave Clifford and the Kings their second Stanley Cup in three years.
