Chris Wideman was born on January 7, 1990, in St.Louis, Missouri. A product of Miami University, Wideman was selected in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators.

Wideman spent the better part of the three season with the Senators's AHL affiliate in Binghamton before finally getting his shot with the big club. He made his NHL debut on October 17, 2015 and would go on to appear in 64 games for the Senators recording 13 points from the back end.

On the international stage Wideman represented the United States at the 2016 World Championship, notching six points 10 game tournament games.
