Gabriel Bourque was born on September 23, 1990 in Saint-Michel-du-Squatec, Quebec. A standout for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL, Bourque was selected in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators.

Bourque made his professional debut for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League for the 2010-11 season. In 78 games he impressed, recording 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points.

Bourque would split time during the 2011-12 season between Milwaukee and Nashville. In 43 NHL games, he would record seven goals and 12 assists. He would also see action in 10 post-season games for the Predators, scoring three times.

After five seasons with the Predators, Bourque's time in the organization would come to an end. He signed as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche prior to the 2016-17 season.
