Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Martin Marincin
Martin Marincin was born on February 18, 1992 in Kosice, Slovakia. The 6’4 defenseman was developing within the Slovakia hockey leagues when he was drafted in the second round, 46th overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

After being drafted, Marincin came over to North America to play in the WHL first with the Prince George Cougars and later with the Regina Pats in order to learn the North American game. Once his career in the WHL was finished, the Edmonton Oilers assigned him to their AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons for the 2012-13 season.

It wouldn’t be until the 2013-14 season when Marincin would get his first look in the NHL. He would make his NHL debut for the Oilers on December 5, 2013 in a 8-2 rout over the Colorado Avalanche. In the 2014-15 season, Marincin would split the season between the Oilers and the Barons, where he played 41 games in the NHL scoring 5 points.

On June 27, 2014, Marincin was traded by the Oilers to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Brad Ross and a fourth round pick.

Internationally, Marincin has represented his native Slovakia seven times, highlighted by appearances in the 2014 World Championship and the 2014 Olympic Games.
