Curtis Hamilton was born on December 4, 1991 in Tacoma, Washington. He played his junior hockey for the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League ad was selected in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

Hamilton made his professional debut in the American Hockey League for the Oilers' affiliate in Oklahoma City. In his rookie season he scored five times and added six assists in 41 games.

In his fourth season with Oklahoma City, Hamilton received his first NHL call up. He suited up in single game for the Oilers on April 9, 2015, a 3-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

On September 30, 2015 Hamilton signed a one-year deal with HC Sparta Prague of the Czech Extraliga.
