Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Johan Larsson
Johan Larsson was born on July 25, 1992 in Lau, Sweden. A star in his homeland for Brynäs IF's of the SEL, Larsson was drafted in the second round as 56th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild.

Larsson would serve as captain of the gold medal-winning Swedish squad at the 2012 World Junior Championships. It was Sweden's first World Junior Championship victory since 1981 and their second ever.

In 2012, Larsson would make his North American professional debut. He would join the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League, suiting up in 62 games for the club, recording 15 goals and 22 assists. He would also get his first taste of NHL action during the lockout shortened season, making his NHL debut on February 17, 2013 for the Wild against the Detroit Red Wings.

On April 3, 2013, Larsson's time in the Minnesota organization would come to an end. He was traded along with Matt Hackett and a pair of draft picks to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Jason Pominville.

Larsson would appear in 74 games for the Sabres during the 2015-16 season and set a new career-high with 10 goals. He would also add seven assists for 17 points, which was also a career-best.
