Scott Wedgewood was born on August 14, 1992, in Brampton, Ontario. A product of the Plymouth Whalers, the goaltender was selected in the third round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils.

Wedgewood spent the majority of his first professional season with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL. In 48 games for the club he recorded 20 wins and posted a 3.22 goal-against-average.

On March 20, 2016, Wedgewood made his NHL debut for the Devils in a winning cause against the Columbus Blue Jackets and recorded his In his first NHL shutout in his second game.
