Brandon Davidson was born on August 21, 1991 in Lethbridge, Alberta. The product of the Regina Pats of the WHL was drafted in the sixth round, 162nd overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

At the conclusion of his WHL career, Davidson was assigned to the AHLís Oklahoma City Barons. Davidson would ply most of three seasons for the Barons before he got his chance at the NHL. Davidson would make his NHL debut on December 10, 2014 in a 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Davidson played in twelve NHL games during the 2014-15 season, scoring one goal.

Davidson would appear in 28 games for the Oilers during the 2016-17 season before his time in the organization would come to an end. On February 28, 2017, Davidson was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for David Desharnais.
