Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Matt Fraser
Matt Fraser was born May 20, 1990 in Red Deer, Alberta. A product of the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League, with whom he won the WHL Championship in 2011, Fraser was undrafted into the NHL, but signed as a free agent by the Dallas Stars in November of 2010.

Fraser made his professional debut with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League in 2011. He would score 20 goals in his first 40 games, drawing the attention of Stars management. He was summoned to the NHL on January 24, 2012 to make his big league debut, but was returned to the AHL after just one game. He would finish the season with an impressive 37 goals at the AHL level.

Fraser would see action in 12 games for the Stars during the lockout shortened 2012-13 season, though would spend the majority of time at the American League level. In 62 games he would again surpass the 30 goal mark in the AHL.

On July 4, 2013, Fraser was part of the seven player blockbuster trade that saw the Stars acquire Tyler Seguin from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Loui Eriksson.
