Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Connor Murphy
Connor Murphy was born on March 26, 1993 in Boston, Massachusetts. The product of the United States National Team Development Program of the USHL was drafted in the first round, 20th overall, by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2011 Entry Draft.

After his time in the USHL, Murphy decided to harness his skills by playing with the OHL’s Sarnia Sting. Murphy would play two seasons with the Sting to end his amateur career. Upon joining the Coyotes’ organization, he would be assigned to play for their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates to start the 2012-14 season. On November 16, 2013, the Coyotes would promote Murphy to play in his NHL debut in a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Murphy would also score his first career NHL goal in the game.

The 2014-15 season would be Murphy’s first full year in the NHL where he would score four goals and add seven assists in 73 games. Murphy would spend the next two seasons with the Coyotes, appearing in 78 and 77 games respectively.

In the summer of 2017, Murphy's time in the Coyotes organization would come to an end. He was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks along with Laurent Dauphin in exchange for Niklas Hjalmarsson.

On the international stage, Murphy helped the United States to the gold medal at the 2011 World U18 Championship and the 2013 World Junior Championship.
