Reid Boucher was born on September 8, 1993 in Grand Ledge, Michigan. The product of the U.S. National Development Team and the OHL’s Sarnia Sting was drafted in the fourth round, 99th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In his two years in Sarnia, he was named to the OHL’s First All-Star Team in 2013 and break the Sarnia Sting’s single season goal scoring record with 58 goals, previously held by Steven Stamkos.
At the conclusion of his junior career, Boucher signed an entry level contract with the New Jersey Devils where he would be assigned to their AHL affiliates, the Albany Devils. Boucher would spend parts of two seasons in Albany before he would make his NHL debut on December 4, 2013 in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Boucher would later score his first NHL goal on December 18, 2013 in a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.
After appearing in just nine games for the Devils during the 2016-17 season, Reid was waived by the club and subsequently claimed by the Nashville Predators. After just three games with the Predators, Boucher was waived once again and this time claimed by the Vancouver Canucks.
On the international stage, Boucher has represented the United States twice, at the 2008 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge and the 2011 World Under 18 Championships, where in both cases leading the United States to a Gold Medal.
