Rob O’Gara was born on July 6, 1993 in Nesconset, New York. A product of the Milton Academy, he was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins and would go on to attend Yale University. In his first season at Yale, O’Gara helped the team capture the first NCAA Championship in school history.

Following his collegiate career, O’Gara joined the Bruins’ AHL affiliate in Providence for the final five games of the 2015-16 season. He would spend the majority of his first full professional season in Providence, but would also see action in three games at the NHL level with the Bruins over the course of the 2016-17 campaign.
