Jason Kasdorf was born on May 18, 1992 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He played his collegiate hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I) and was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets.

While still at R.P.I, Kasdorf was traded along with Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian, to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux, and a draft pick.

Upon completing his collegiate career, Kasdorf joined the Sabres in the late stages of the 2015-16 season. He made his first NHL start on April 8, 2016, making 26 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
