Laurent Brossoit was on born March 23, 1993 in Port Alberni, British Columbia. He joined the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2010-11 appearing in 34 games for the club, recording 13 wins and a 3.32 goals-against-average. Brossoit was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames.

Brossoit was impressive tending goal in his second season in Edmonton. He posted three shutouts in 61 games with a 2.47 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage while leading the Oil Kings to the best record in the Western Hockey League. He would continue his strong play in the post-season, backstopping the Oil Kings to the WHL championship and a berth in the Memorial Cup.

The 2013-14 season would be Brossoit's first professional campaign. He would spend the majority of time in the ECHL with the Bakersfield Condors, but he would also suit up for the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL. On November 8, 2013 Brossoit's NHL rights were traded to the Edmonton Oilers and he was assigned to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. He would later join Edmonton's AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons for eight games.

Though he would spend the majority of the following season in Oklahoma City, Brossoit would also get his first taste of life in the NHL. Making 32 saves in a losing cause.
