Anton Forsberg was born on November 27, 1992 in Harnosand, Swedent. The product of Modo Hockey of the Swedish Elite League was drafted in the seventh round, 188th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After six seasons in Sweden, Forsberg came over to North America where the Blue Jackets assigned him to their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons to end the 2013-14 season. Forsberg started the 2014-15 season with the Falcons but was called up after the first month of the season. On November 1, 2014, Forsberg made his NHL debut during a 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils. Forsberg played in five games this season where he would be on record losing four of them.

Forsberg made just one appearance for the Blue Jackets during the 2016-17 season and on June 23, 2017, his time on the organization would come to an end. He was traded alongside Brandon Saad to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Artemi Panarin and Tyler Motte.

On the international stage, Forsberg helped his native Sweden to the gold medal at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship.
