Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Niklas Svedberg
Niklas Svedberg was born on September 4, 1989 in Sollentuna, Sweden. The undrafted goaltender had been playing in the Swedish Elite League for five years before the Boston Bruins signed him to an NHL entry level deal in 2012.

Upon his arrival in North America, Svedberg was assigned to the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. In Providence, Svedberg was voted as the AHL Goalie of the Year in the 2012-13 season posting a 37-8-2 record. As a result of his good play the Boston Bruins decided to give him a shot at the NHL level. Svedberg would make his NHL debut on January 2, 2014 in a 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators.

Svedberg would split the 2014-15 season between Providence and Boston, where he served as a backup to starting netminder, Tuuka Rask. After the season, as a restricted free agent, Svedberg would elect to sign a one year contract in the KHL to play for Ufa Salavat Yulayev.
