Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Andrei Vasilevskiy
Andrei Vasilevskiy was born on July 25, 1994 in Tyumen, Russia. The product of Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL was drafted in the first round, 19th overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Vasilevskiy played four seasons in Russia before a blood clot stopped him from continuing his hockey career temporarily. Prior to the 2014-15 season, Vasilevskiy was cleared to play again when he joined the Lightning’s organization, who assigned him to their AHL affiliate, Syracuse Crunch.

The goaltender started the season with the Crunch but was recalled by the Lightning after one month. On November 1, 2015, Vasilevskiy made his NHL debut during a 4-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

On the international stage, Vasilevskiy has represented his native Russia six times. This includes two appearances at the World Junior Championships (2012, 2013) and an appearance at the 2014 World Championship.
