Damon Severson was born on August 7, 1994 in Brandon, Manitoba. The product of the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets was drafted in the second round, 60th overall, during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils.

After playing in four seasons with the Rockets, Severson jumped straight to the NHL during the 2014-15 season. He made his NHL debut on October 9, 2014 in a 6-4 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. In 51 games during his rookie year, Severson posted 5 goals and 17 assists.

On the international stage, Severson has represented Canada twice, which is highlighted by a Bronze Medal at the 2012 World Under 18 Championship.
