Jujhar Khaira was born on August 13, 1994 in Surrey, British Columbia. Following his second season with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL Khaira was selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. He would go on to attend Michigan Tech for a single year before joining the Everett Silvertips of the WHL for a season.

Khaira made his professional debut for the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League. During his first full season for the club he appeared in 59 games, scoring four goals and adding six assists.

Khaira made his NHL debut on November 28, 2015 in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He would go on to appear in 15 games for the Oilers during the 2015-16 season, recording a pair of assists. He would spend the 2016-17 season predominantly with Oklahoma, but would also suit up in 10 games for the Oilers, scoring the first goal of his NHL career.
