Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brendan Leipsic
Brendan Leipsic was born on May 19, 1994 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. An offensive force for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, he was selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators. During the 2012-13 season, Leipsic scored 49 goals and added 71 assists for 120 points to win the CHL Top Scorer Award as the highest-scoring player in the Canadian Hockey League.

Leipsic made his professional debut for the Predators' AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, to start the 2014-15 season. He recorded 36 points in 47 games before being traded by the Predators to the Toronto Maple Leafs along with Olli Jokinen and a first round draft pick in exchange for Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli. Leipsic would immediately join the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Leipsic spent the majority of the 2015-16 season with the Marlies. In 65 games for the club he tallied 20 goals and 54 points. His strong play was rewarded with his first glimpse of life in the NHL. He made his NHL debut on February 13, 2016, scoring his first NHL goal during the second period in a 5-2 Maple Leafs victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Left unprotected in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, Leipsic was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights and would begin the 2017-18 season with the club. In 44 games he scored twice and added 11 assists before finding himself on the move at the trade deadline. Leipsic was shipped to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Philip Holm.
