Charles Hudon was born on June 23, 1994, in Alma, Quebec. A product of the QMJHL, he was selected in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.

2014-15, would be Hudon's first first full professional season. He spent the year with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL and found a home on the club's top line. In 75 games, Hudon recorded 57 points, finishing second amongst the Bulldogs in scoring and second amongst rookie's league-wide. Hudon was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team and also selected to the AHL All-Star Game, where he posted three goals and an assist to earn co-MVP honours.

On December 8, 2015, Hudon received his first NHL recall by the Montreal Canadiens. He made his NHL debut and recorded his first NHL point in a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on December 10, 2015. After one more season in the AHL, Hudon would stick with the Canadiens full-time in 2017-18. In 72 games for the club he scored 10 times and added 20 assists for 30 points.
