Marek Mazanec was on July 18, 1991 in Pisek, Czech Republic. The 6’3 goaltender was playing hockey professionally in the Czech Republic when he was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round, 179th overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Mazanec would play five years in the Czech Republic before he was ready to come to North America to play professionally for the 2013-14 NHL season. As a rookie, Mazanec would split his time between the Nashville Predators and their AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. He would make his NHL debut on November 8, 2013 in a 5-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. After that loss, Mazanec had a spectacular month of November where he was named the NHL Rookie of the Month.
During the 2014-15 season, Mazanec would spend the majority of his time playing in the AHL where he played 48 games boasting a 18-18-9 record.
On the international stage, Mazanec has represented the Czech Republic twice. He helped the national team to a 6th place finish at the IIHF World Under 18 Championships in 2009 and in the 2011 World Junior Championship, he was on a Czech team that finished 7th.
