Loov would spend the majority of the following season with the Marlies, but was recalled by the Maple Leafs on an emergency basis on February 18, 2016, and made his NHL debut the same night. He would suit up in four games for the Leafs before being returned to the Marlies for the remainder of the season.

On February 18, 2017, Loov's time in the Maple Leafs organization would come to an end. He was traded to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Sergey Kalinin and would subsequently join the Devils' AHL affiliate in Albany.
