Jaycob Megna was born on December 10, 1992 in Northbrook, Illinois. A solid defenceman for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, he was selected in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

Megna made his professional debut for the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League during the 2013-14 season and would remain at the AHL level for the better part of three seasons before getting his first glimpse at life in the NHL. He made his debut for the Ducks on April 6, 2017 in a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
