Artturi Lehkonen was born on July 4, 1995, in Piikkio, Finland. A standout for KalPa in his homeland, Lehkonen was selected in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens and would spend two seasons with Frolunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League, helping the club to the Le Mat Trophy as league champions in 2016.

Lehkonen cracked the Canadiens lineup to start the 2016-17. In 73 games for the club he notched 18 goals and added 10 assists. He also suited up in all six of Montreal's post-season contests where his four points were second on the team behind only Alexander Radulov.

On the international stage Lehkonen helped Finland to the gold medal at the 2014 World Junior Championship.
