Eric Comrie was born on July 6, 1995, in Edmonton, Alberta. A product of the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League, he was selected in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets.

Comrie made his professional debut for the Jets' AHL affiliate, the v in the late stages of the 2014-15 season. In three games he posted a 2.27 goals-against-average and .920 save percentage. He would spend the majority of the next two season in the American League, but would make his NHL debut on April 6, 2017. Comrie made 35 saves to record the first NHL win of his career.

On the international stage, Comrie helped Canada to the gold medal at the 2015 World Junior Championship.
