Viktor Svedberg was born on May 24, 1991, in Gothenburg, Sweden. A product of Frölunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League, the big defenceman made his North American debut for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League in 2013-14.
Following two seasons with Rockford, Svedberg signed a deal with their parent club, the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2015. Svedberg would make his NHL debut on October 9, 2015 in a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders. Svedberg would go on to appear in 27 games for the Blackhawks during the 2015-16 season, scoring a pair of goals and adding two assists.
