Kevin Fiala was born on July 22, 1996 in Uzwil, Switzerland. A star in his homeland, he then joined HV71, where he would split time with the junior and senior teams. He was selected 11th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators.
Fiala would make his North American debut at the American Hockey League level for the Predators' affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. In 33 games for the club he recorded 11 goals and added nine assists. He would also get his first taste of life in the NHL, suiting up in a single game for the Predators.
The 2015-16 season would also be spent primarily at the AHL level and Fiala would put up impressive offensive numbers. In 66 games he registered 18 goals and 32 assists. He also appeared in five games for the Predators, scoring his first NHL goal on January 14, 2016, against Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jet.
