Alex Nedeljkovic was born on January 7, 1996 in Parma, Ohio. A standout goaltender with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, he was selected in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Nedeljkovic made his professional debut in for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL in the late stages of the 2014-15 season. In three games he recorded a pair of wins and a .841 save percentage. On December 30, 2016, while playing with the Everblades, Nedeljkovic became the 12th ECHL goaltender to score a goal.

On January 17, 2017, Nedeljkovic got his first taste of NHL action, coming on in relief of Cam Ward in a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
