Vladislav Kamenev was born on August 12, 1996 in Orsk, Russia. A product of Yuzhny Ural Orsk in his homeland, Kamenev was selected in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators.

Kamenev spent two season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL before making his North American debut in 2015-16. He joined the Predatorsí AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, scoring 15 times and adding 22 assists in 57 games.

Kamenev would spend the majority of the 2016-17 season with Milwaukee as well. In 70 games he found the back of the net 21 times to go along with 30 assists. He also got his first taste of NHL action, suiting up in a pair of games for Nashville.
