Brandon Montour was born on April 11, 1994 in Ohsweken, Ontario. A product of the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL, he was selected in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. Montour attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst for one season before making his professional debut in the American Hockey League in the late stages of the 2014-15 season.

The 2015-16 season would be Montourís first full professional campaign. He spent the season with the Ducks affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, where he put up an impressive 57 points in 68 games.

Montour got his first taste of NHL action during the 2016-17 season. He made his debut with the Ducks on December 29, 2016 and would go on to appear in 27 regular-season and 17 post-season contests for the club.
