Nikita Tryamkin was born on August 30, 1994, in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The hulking defenceman played for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL and was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Following completion of the 2015-16 season, Tryamkin joined the Canucks for the remainder of their NHL campaign. In 13 games he recorded a goal and an assist. Tryamkin would spend the entire 2016-17 season with the Canucks. In 66 games the defenceman scored a pair of goals and added seven assists for nine points.
