Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Matt O'Connor
Matthew O'Connor was born on February 14, 1992, in Toronto, Ontario. A product of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, O'Connor would later tend goal for the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL before attending Boston University.

Undrafted by an NHL club, O'Connor would spend three years at Boston University where he posted impressive numbers. In his final collegiate season O'Connor's goals-against-average was 2.18 and his save percentage .927.

Choosing to forego his final year at Boston University, O'Connor signed a deal with the Ottawa Senators in May of 2015. The expectation was that O'Connor would spend the following season in the American Hockey League, however due to injuries in goal suffered during training camp, O'Connor remained on the Senators opening night roster. He would make his NHL debut on October 15, 2015 in a losing effort against the Montreal Canadiens.

O'Connor was soon sent to the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League where he would spend the remainder of his first professional season. He would make 34 appearances for the club, recording 10 wins, with a goal-against-average of 3.31 and save percentage of .895. On July 1, 2017, as an unrestricted free agent, O'Connor signed a deal with the Nashville Predators.
