Rasmus Andersson was born on October 27, 1996 in Malmo, Sweden. A standout for his hometown Redhawks, he joined the Colts in 2014 and was selected in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames.

Andersson would spend the 2016-17 season with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League. In 54 games, he scored three times and added 19 assists. He also suited up in single game for Calgary during his first professional campaign, making his NHL debut in the Flames final game of the regular season.
