Kalle Kossila was born on April 14, 1993 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. He starred for the Espoo Blues in Finland before attending St. Cloud State in Minnesota to play collegiate hockey.

Following his fourth season at St. Cloud State, Kossila signed as a free agent with the Anaheim Ducks and joined the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, for six games at the tail end of the 2015-16 season. Kossila would spend the majority of the 2016-17 season with the Gulls as well, scoring 14 times and adding 34 assists in 65 games. He also got his first taste of NHL action during his first full professional season, making his debut for the Ducks on January 25, 2017.
