This exhibit brings to life the Montreal Canadiens’ dressing room at the Forum
in the 1990’s.
Montreal was chosen because the organization’s facility exudes
tradition more than any other in hockey.
Every aspect of the room from the
laundry piles to the physiotherapy equipment is replicated in precise detail.
The name plates of each Montreal roster are proudly featured above the stalls, while the opposite wall showcases the inspiring portraits of the franchise's greatest players.
Above these famous names is
the passage "to you from failing hands we pass the torch be yours to hold it high"
which gives visitors a further sense of the Canadiens’ proud tradition.
The experience is augmented by a depiction of a dressing room from the 1920’s.
The contrast between the two facilities creates a very strong impression.
Another unique aspect of this zone features Dick Irvin, Jr. introducing an animatronic audio presentation of
his father Dick, Sr. One of the most respected coaches in NHL history, Dick Irvin, Sr. supplies
a fascinating commentary on being a big league "bench boss." Adjacent to this is a training area
that depicts many aspects of an athletic therapist's work. Exercises, injuries and rehabilitation
are all addressed through samples of equipment and videos. The focal point of this section is the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society/Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers (PHATS/SPHEM) Wall of Honour, which displays the plaques of the organizations' inductees.
