On March 23, 1994, Wayne Gretzky, then with the L.A. Kings, scored a milestone goal on Vancouver's Kirk McLean. It was Gretzky's 802nd career goal, establishing a record for the NHL's all-time career goals scored. Seen here, as part of the Records and Milestones exhibit, are the net into which he scored, as well as the helmet, gloves and stick used to put Wayne one goal above his childhood idol, Gordie Howe. The net is filled with 802 pucks to symbolize The Great One's feat.

Upon entry to the Hockey Hall of Fame, guests are greeted by a specially-created audio/video presentation titled Legends Tribute. The larger than life vignettes allow visitors the opportunity to watch and listen as hockey's greatest ambassadors, including over 50 Honoured Members, share their passion for the game through a series of interview clips interwoven with some of hockey history's most exciting highlights.
To the right of the Legends screen is the new NHL Today exhibit. Unveiled October 31, 2003, this zone devotes a showcase to each of the NHL's six divisions as well as the league's annual Hockey Hall of Fame Game. On display are a range of artifacts which help capture the storylines, moments and players that are shaping the current game.
On the left side of the Legends screen is the 2005 Inductee Tribute, honouring this year's inductees -- players Valeri Kharlamov and Cam Neely as well as builder Murray Costello. Artifacts from the careers of each of the three latest Honoured Members are displayed for visitors to enjoy.
Other themed showcases in this area include the Records and Milestones and NHL Defunct and Expansion Franchises.
