'Legends of Hockey' exhibit.
On June 24, 2005, the Hockey Hall of Fame unveiled an exhibit dedicated to hockey families. Titled 'The Family Circle,' this special series of showcases shines the spotlight on the many stories that involve players and their relatives. One showcase highlights multi-generational hockey families (the Patricks, for example, who through three generations have sent four members to the Hall of Fame). Another, Honoured Members and their siblings, includes the Hulls, Howes, Bentleys and Espositos. The Conacher, Sutter and Gretzky families are each profiled in their own showcase, while another features the NHL's all-time top goal scorers and the revelation that each has a brother who also suited up in the NHL. Rounding out this fascinating new exhibit is the 'Believe It Or Not' showcase, which deals with several unusual hockey-family tales.

Along the outer perimeter of The Family Circle is an expansive tribute to the 'Legends of Hockey'. The ten players currently spotlighted are Jean Beliveau, Doug Harvey, Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Guy Lafleur, Bobby Orr, Jacques Plante, Maurice 'Rocket' Richard, Terry Sawchuk and Eddie Shore. This elite group of players boasts 48 Stanley Cup championships and 105 all-star berths.

Artifacts on display within the Legends of Hockey exhibit include the bronzed skates worn by the Bruins' Bobby Orr following his Stanley Cup-winning goal of 1970, the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers sweaters worn by Terry Sawchuk in the 1960's, 'Rocket' Richard sweater from his final NHL season (1959-60), sticks used by Bobby Hull to score his 50th goal in 1971-72 and his 450th career goal in 1968-69 and Jacques Plante's mask used with the WHA Edmonton Oilers in 1974-75.
