HHOF shares a moment with the Queen
On Monday, July 5, 2010, members of the Hockey Hall of Fame staff attended a very special dinner hosted by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. The Hockey Hall of Fame created a display which pays tribute to the Queen's association with hockey, dating back to 1951, when as the Duchess of Edinburgh, she was famously greeted at Maple Leaf Gardens by Teeder Kennedy and Conn Smythe.
The Queen herself pulled back the curtain to unveil the display which houses the puck she dropped at a Vancouver Canucks game in 2002 and a Team Canada jersey adorned with her own royal crest. Prime Minister Harper referred to the Queen as "Canada's most valuable player" which caused the crowd of over 300 onlookers to erupt in applause.

1972 Summit Series heroes Paul Henderson and Ron Ellis touch the 2010 gold medal-winning puck.

Touch the Puck That Touched a Nation
The puck used by Sidney Crosby to score the gold medal-winning goal has been moved outside of its showcase and displayed in a custom mount enabling Hockey Hall of Fame patrons to touch and photograph the puck that 50 million people saw turn to gold.
Among the first to touch and inspect the puck was Canadian hockey legend Paul Henderson, who scored a momentous goal of his own for Canada in 1972. Henderson's game-eight goal against Russia won the historic Summit Series for Canada, and helped cement hockey's special place in the hearts of Canadians.
"This puck is symbolic of how we come together as Canadians, and how we win as a team," said Henderson. "I am very pleased that this important piece of our history will be accessible to the general public. It really belongs to all of us."

Sidney Crosby's Stick and Gloves Now on Display at the HHOF
The missing stick and gloves used by Sidney Crosby at the 2010 Olympics have been retrieved and are now on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The artifacts join the gold-medal puck and net in the limited-time "Double Gold" exhibit.
The stick and gloves were used by Crosby to score the overtime goal against the U.S. at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. The stick and gloves went missing in the post-game celebration and commotion at Canada Hockey Place. The stick was in a shipment headed to St. Petersburg, Russia and the gloves inadvertently ended up in teammate Patrice Bergeron's equipment bag.
"I am happy to see that the stick and gloves are at the Hockey Hall of Fame," said Sidney Crosby. "I am glad hockey fans will get the chance to share the moment by seeing all the artifacts from that overtime up close, including my stick and gloves."
