Toronto (March 26, 2008) — Former Leafs captains Darryl Sittler, Rick Vaive, Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour joined a prominent group of community leaders Wednesday at the ground breaking ceremony for the new Lakeshore Lions Arena, a community facility that will benefit youth hockey in Toronto.

Accessible to minor and amateur hockey teams, the 260,000 square foot facility is the first arena to be built in Toronto in 25 years. It replaces the existing single-pad Lakeshore Lions Arena, opened and operated by the Lions Club in 1951. The Lions Club will also operate the new facility.

The new Lakeshore Lions Arena will be the future practice facility for the Toronto Maple Leafs and its American hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Toronto Marlies. Construction is scheduled to be completed by September 2009 in time for Leafs training camp.

The Hockey Hall of Fame, another partner in the project, will move its Hockey Resource Centre and Archives to the new building. As well, Hockey Canada will operate their Ontario Regional Offices from the new facility and use the Olympic-sized pad for training and development of Canada's national teams. The arena will be the permanent home of the Etobicoke Dolphins, Canada's second largest women's hockey organization, and the Faustina Sports Club.

Toronto (January 25, 2008) — Anaheim Ducks owners Henry and Susan Samueli joined Executive Vice President/General Manager Brian Burke today to donate a 2007 Stanley Cup championship ring to the Hockey Hall of Fame. It is the first time an NHL club has made such a gesture to the Hall, giving fans the opportunity to view a championship ring up-close.

"On behalf of owners Henry and Susan Samueli, we are very pleased to be able to offer the Hockey Hall of Fame an Anaheim Ducks 2007 Stanley Cup Championship ring," said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Brian Burke. "Henry and Susan spent a tremendous amount of time and effort working on the design of the rings and we are honored the Hall of Fame will be putting it on display for the fans."

Henry and Susan Samueli presented Hockey Hall of Fame Chairman and CEO Bill Hay with the championship ring. Composed of 110 diamonds in 14-karat white gold, the face of the ring features a raised Stanley Cup filled with 16 diamonds, representing the club's 16 wins to secure the championship. Other unique features include 14 stones on the right side of the ring; 11 green stones representing Disney's ownership, two orange stones representing the current Samueli ownership and one white stone for the missed 2004-05 season due to the work stoppage. The inside of the ring includes the inscribed phrase, "Destiny is Heart, Sacrifice and Passion," which became the team's motto throughout the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Following the ring presentation, Hockey Hall of Fame curator Phil Pritchard toured the Ducks management team around the 57,000 square foot interactive museum. The tour included a special viewing of the latest edition of The Stanley Cup Odyssey featured in the Hartland Molson Theatre. The 2007 edition of the exclusive film features the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals, which undoubtedly, brought back great memories for the Ducks management team.

The 2007 edition of The Stanley Cup Odyssey presented in high-definition is now playing in the Hartland Molson Theatre at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The 2007 Stanley Cup ring is currently on display in the 6,000 square foot NHL Zone alongside the recently retired Stanley Cup band. Visit the Hockey Hall of Fame today! Toronto (November 13, 2007) — For several years the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has enjoyed a splendid co-operation with the Hockey Hall of Fame, a partnership that will be expanded further for the IIHF's 100 Year Anniversary Year in 2008.

As a buildup for this historic event, the IIHF and the Hockey Hall of Fame have produced a commemorative coffee table book entitled "World of Hockey - Celebrating A Century of the IIHF" - that was released on November 13, 2007. The book is co-edited by Szymon Szemberg (IIHF) and author Andrew Podnieks. The chapters are written by some of the most knowledgeable hockey historians and experts on the international game.

In addition to the release of the commemorative book, the Hockey Hall of Fame opened an exhibition in the international wing that displays 100 years of international hockey. Additionally, the Hockey Hall of Fame photographs and photo editors will continue to enhance and promote IIHF Images, a photo bank that documents the World Championships at every level.

In July, 1998 the Hockey Hall of Fame opened the 3,500 square-foot "Royal Canadian Mint World of Hockey Zone" an area dedicated to the global game. The zone has since undergone a series of further expansions and renovations, including the unveiling of the new IIHF Honour Roll exhibit, which pays tribute to the finest players and executives from around the world.
