The Doug MacLellan Collection


Doug MacLellan has been the official photographer of the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1987. He has photographed the Stanley Cup Finals since 1993, the 1987 and 1991 Canada Cup Finals, the 1996 World Cup of Hockey Tournament and about 60 NHL games per season since 1990. The vast majority are strobe lit. He photographed the 1993 Memorial Cup Final, the 1991 World Junior Championships, the 1994 Women's Hockey Championship, the 1995 Centennial Cup Tournament and various University Cup Finals. Several times a year he photographs junior and minor hockey. Additionally he photographs trophies and artifacts for the Hockey Hall of Fame Resource Centre. Other work for the Hockey Hall of Fame has included the annual portraits of its HHoF Inductees since 1992, the Grand Opening of the new Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993, and many other events at the HHOF.

His work is widely published, having appeared in magazines such as "Sports Illustrated" and "The Hockey News", books such as "Captains", "Forever Rivals" and "Behind the Crease", hockey cards for the Upper Deck Company, licensed posters for Norman James Company and Kraft Dinner Packages. The Hockey Hall of Fame regularly publishes his work in its internal house publications. There are over 70 of his photos on display in the HHOF. Those photos are as large as four by eight feet and cover the gamut of his hockey action and hockey-related work.
