Bobby Clarke quote - prior to the exhibition game between the Central Red Army team and the reigning Stanley Cup champion Flyers (Philadelphia won the game 4-1), Clarke claimed "(the Soviets) complain about the ice, the practice time. They show up late, they don't like our gifts. They're always trying to play with our minds. But that won't work with our club. We've got 20 guys with no brains."

Yvon Cournoyer tidbit - came close to being seriously injured when a fan hurled a whiskey bottle out of the upper regions of the Chicago Stadium on November 13, 1977. The bottle shattered against the plexiglass and several splinters lodged in Cournoyer's head. Yvon required a number of stitches and the throwing culprit was never apprehended.
