Alexander Maltsev Alexander Maltsev starred with the Soviet National Team during its 1970s domination of international play. He earned Olympic gold in 1972 and '76 and played on nine World Championship winning teams. Maltsev was named best forward at the Worlds three times and earned a berth on the 1976 Canada Cup all-star team. Rick Martin Rick Martin was the trigger-man for Buffalo's famed French Connection Line that included Rene Robert and Gilbert Perreault. Regarded for his unrivaled slapshot, Martin set an NHL rookie record of 44 goals in 1971-72 and went on to notch back-to-back 52-goal campaigns (he scored 49 the following year). He earned berths to four all-star teams and played in seven all-star games during the 1970s. His career was cut short due to injuries and he subsequently retired in 1982.

Boris Mikhailov Boris Mikhailov was the primary captain of the Soviet National Team from 1969 until 1980. He was named best forward at the World Championships and voted to the WC all-star team in 1973 and '79. A star performer at the 1972 Summit Series, Mikhailov earned two Olympic and 8 World Championship gold medals. Boris was a member of one of hockey's greatest forward lines alongside Vladimir Petrov and Valeri Kharlamov.

Vaclav Nedomansky Vaclav Nedomansky was one of the greatest Czechoslovakian players of all time. "Big Ned" earned best forward honours at the 1974 World Championships and claimed three of his four Czechoslovak goal scoring crowns during the 1970's. He later went on to star in the WHA, scoring a personal-high 56 goals for the 1975-76 Toronto Toros. Nedomansky signed with the Detroit Red Wings in 1977 and ended his career at age 39 with the New York Rangers.
