Borje Salming tidbit - Maple Leafs scout Gerry McNamara originally went to Sweden in 1973 to scout goaltender Kurt Larsson but was more impressed by a slender defenseman by the name of Borje Salming. Darryl Sittler

Darryl Sittler dateline - December 29, 1979 - stripped off his captain "C" from his sweater over his displeasure of Toronto trading away his linemate and close friend Lanny McDonald to Colorado. Sittler resumed his captaincy the next season.

Marc Tardiff Marc Tardiff began his professional career with the Montreal Canadiens, but made his mark as the most prolific goal-scorer in WHA history. In his six seasons with the WHA, Tardiff never scored fewer than 40 goals, including a personal-high 71 in 1975-76. He won two scoring titles (1975-76 and '77-'78), earning MVP honours both years. Tardiff remained with the Quebec Nordiques after the team joined the NHL in 1979. He called it a career in 1983 and his jersey number 8 was retired by the Nordiques. J.C.Tremblay J.C. Tremblay was a standout defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens before signing with the WHA's Quebec Nordiques for the league's inaugural 1972-73 season. He immediately became the circuit's top player at his position, leading the league with 75 assists in his first season. Tremblay earned best defenseman honours in 1973 and '75. He ended his career in 1979 as the most prolific scoring rearguard in WHA history with 424 points.
