In Parent's first game back in the NHL after a year in the WHA, he let in seven goals in 12 minutes and was pulled - Parent went on to capture back-to-back Vezina Trophies and Conn Smythe Awards in 1974 and 1975.

The Flyers took on the Soviet Red Army team on January 11, 1976. Angry that penalties were not called on Philadelphia's rough tactics, Red Army headed back to their dressing-room at 11:21 of the first period. They returned 17 minutes later after Flyers' President Ed Snyder stated they wouldn't get paid unless they finished the game. Philadelphia scored 17 seconds after the game resumed and proceeded to earn a convincing 4-1 victory

Kate Smith, the lady who sang "God Bless America" prior to several Flyers games, agreed to lower her appearance fee from the standard $25,000 to a mere $5,000 per game. Philadelphia's record with her rendition was 64-15-3 (3-1-0 when live).
